Program Overview

The Drama Tree Stage Extension & Eisteddfod Program offers Year 7 - 9 students a comprehensive, real-world performance experience. In the first half of the year, students develop individual pieces for the Sydney Eisteddfod Speech and Drama Festival, and in the second half, they deepen their work with dramatic text, character and ensemble performance. This course is a core program for students ready for greater creative challenge and public performance experience.

The benefits reach far beyond the stage. Students strengthen skills that support them across school and everyday life including:

  • Audition preparation

  • Debating and public speaking

  • English and literacy development

  • School leadership readiness

  • Structured oral presentations

  • Confidence and resilience in challenging situations

These real life, transferable skills build capable, articulate and confident young people.

What is Sydney Eisteddfod?

Sydney Eisteddfod is a major performing arts festival in Sydney that runs each winter. It gives young actors and speakers the chance to perform on a real stage in front of an industry adjudicator, receive individual feedback, and represent Drama Tree in an external competition. Performances include prepared monologues, poetry/verse speaking, duo scenes, and small ensemble devised work.
